MPs vote is double standards

Local MP Simon Burns, and Labour and Conservative front benchers, joined forces on 18 May to vote to exempt MPs from the Freedom of Information Act. Lib Dems have led the opposition in the House of Commons and have launched a national petition so voters can show the House of Lords (who debate the bill next) how they feel.

Chelmsford Lib Dem Stephen Robinson told the Chelmsford Weekly News. "This brings Parliament into disrepute. This creates one law for MPs and Lords and one law for everyone else. MPs should not impose higher standards on Councillors than they apply to themselves."

How you can help to defeat this Bill

You can lobby a member of the House of Lords and sign our petition. Please visit www.ourcampaign.org.uk/foi for more information.
