Back the Fairtrade campaign

Chelmsford Fairtrade Town Campaign tonight held a successful AGM, attended by 24 people. Local Lib Dem Stephen Robinson was one of the attendees and Chelmsford Liberal Democrats were recorded in the annual report as one of the new campaign supporters.

The meeting heard from Linda Mead of Commitment for Life (www.cforl.co.uk) about their work in Jamaica and also about the campaign to make Southend a Fairtrade town.

The meeting also heard that a growing number of shops locally and nationally are now stocking Fairtrade products, including some of the national chains of supermarkets stocking Fairtrade products under their own brand. Additionally, Chelmsford Co-op shops have a "10% off Fairtrade products" sale until 22 October.

Trinity Methodist Church, Rainsford Road, are holding a Fairtrade Christmas Fair on Saturday 25 November 10.00am to 1.00pm. Details from 01245-355487 or 01245-601321

Chelmsford Liberal Democrats are carrying the Fairtrade petition and encourage you to sign it. You can sign it here: http://chelmsford-libdems.org.uk/petitions/3.html
