Robin Stevens and Mike Mackrory with Survey

Robin Stevens with Springfield Lib Dem Cllr. Mike Mackrory. "This survey tells us a great deal about local people's priorities."

A new Survey by Lib Dems in the Lawns area shows an overwhelming 19 out of 20 people want cardboard and plastic recycling. Robin Stevens, Lib Dem Candidate for the Lawns by-election said, "I'm glad that so many of my neighbours agree with me over recycling priorities, which are important for the health of our community. I was saddened that the Tory ruling group on the Council went for the easy option and slashed these recycling targets."

Other startling findings are that 18 out of 20 people want litter louts fines to be enforced, and almost the same number want smaller class sizes rather than the Labour gimmick of child trust funds.

Among other findings of the survey - which will be used by Lib Dems to help them decide local priorities are:

. 81% want more Park & Ride initiatives

. 80% would scrap student tuition fees

. 75% want more police on the beat instead of costly and wasteful ID cards and

. 67% want to scrap the Council Tax in favour of a fairer local income tax based on the ability to pay.
