Liberal Democrats in the West Chelmsford constituency have reselected Stephen Robinson as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate. Mr Robinson fought the constituency at the 2001 General Election.

Commenting on his selection, Stephen Robinson said, "I am delighted to be chosen again for West Chelmsford, an area of substantial Liberal Democrat support. Nationally, the Liberal Democrats continue to outshine the Conservatives and are proving to be the effective opposition to the Labour Government. Locally, in votes cast and seats won, the Liberal Democrats continue to beat Labour.and remain the clear challengers to the Conservative MP at the next election.

"We are building up our strength locally, having signed up over 70 new party members and many helpers in the last eight months.

"We will challenge the Conservatives, who are trying to make everyone forget their 18 years of disastrous Government. We will challenge Labour, who have failed to deliver on their key promises: they are closing post offices; school class sizes continue to grow, and they have legislated for top-up college fees. The prospects for the Liberal Democrats locally are excellent."

Local Liberal Democrat Chairman Mike Mackrory added, "We are delighted to have re-selected Stephen Robinson. He is a top rate campaigner with considerable experience of fighting and winning local elections, and served his electorate well as a Councillor."
